About Spacious Mind

Built on experience, grounded in care.

Spacious Mind was founded on a simple conviction: families in crisis deserve more than a referral. They deserve a steady, experienced presence who will stay with them through every phase of recovery.

Britten Grayden, PhD Candidate

Licensed Mental Health Counselor · Certified Addictions Professional

Britten Grayden founded Spacious Mind with the understanding that families facing addiction and mental health challenges need more than clinical treatment alone. They need someone who can see the full picture, step into the complexity with them, and provide the kind of sustained, strategic guidance that leads to real change.

Currently completing her doctorate in psychology at Saybrook University, with a master's degree in counseling for co-occurring disorders from the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School, Britten brings both academic depth and hands-on experience to every engagement. Her clinical training is complemented by an integrated approach that addresses the psychological, relational, and deeper personal dimensions of recovery.

Britten works directly with each family. There is no handoff to junior staff and no impersonal intake process. When you engage Spacious Mind, you are working with her and the team she has personally built around you.

Families do not need another program. They need someone who will stay in the room with them, hold the complexity, and guide them toward something that holds.

How We Think

An integrated approach to lasting change.

Addiction and mental health challenges rarely exist in isolation. They are shaped by family dynamics, unresolved experiences, and patterns that have often been reinforced over years or decades.

Spacious Mind's clinical approach addresses the full scope of what drives these patterns. We work at the intersection of evidence-based intervention, relational insight, and the deeper personal work that gives recovery its meaning and durability.

Clinical Precision

Every engagement is grounded in evidence-based assessment and proven therapeutic modalities.

Relational Insight

We work with the family as a system, not just the individual. Recovery is a shared process.

Sustained Presence

We stay involved far beyond the initial engagement. Long-term stability requires long-term commitment.

Integrated Depth

Addressing the psychological, behavioral, and personal dimensions that give recovery its meaning.

The Team

A carefully selected team of professionals.

Every member of the Spacious Mind team is personally selected by Britten to ensure the highest standard of care, discretion, and clinical competency.

The Spacious Mind Philosophy

Why this name. Why this work.

When families face addiction and mental health struggles, they often feel trapped. Trapped in cycles of fear, frustration, and exhaustion. They have tried everything they know to do, yet nothing seems to create lasting change.

The name Spacious Mind reflects the mindset required for something different. It asks us to pause. To step back from the urgency and become willing to see the situation through a wider lens. To release the belief that we must solve everything alone.

A spacious mind is not passive. It is open, intentional, and ready. It is the quality of attention that allows a family to receive new guidance, consider new approaches, and begin to move in a direction that actually holds.

When we approach recovery with a spacious mind, we begin to see that even in moments of crisis, there is still a clear path forward.
